The London Marathon has long been one of the most anticipated sports events not only within the UK, but globally. However, 2025's event was bigger and more exciting than ever, with a record-breaking 56,000 runners taking on the 26.2 mile route on Sunday 27th of April.
More than 840,000 people applied for the ballot to enter in 2025, its 45th year. And for the lucky few who took on the challenge, along the way they stopped by some of the finest landmarks and views that London has to offer. Here we take a whistle-stop tour around the route and discover some incredible properties perfectly positioned to cheer the runners along from the sidelines.
The London Marathon starts in Greenwich, winding its way through southeast London before heading west along the south side of the River Thames. Between miles 12 and 13 runners enjoy one of the most breathtaking views as they cross Tower Bridge. Close by you’ll find this exceptional 5-bedroom semi-detached family townhouse, complete with an award-winning garden, crafted by Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medallists, and views of The Shard. Along with being just moments from the water, it's ideally located to enjoy the iconic Borough Market and Borough Yards. Formerly part of the Anchor Brewery, this unique home has been reimagined by its interior designer owner, resulting in a beautiful blend of heritage character and modern design.

As runners make their way towards the Docklands, they pass by the tranquil pocket of the capital around St Katharine Docks. This 2-bedroom apartment is optimised to make the most of the calming views over both the East and West Docks. This picturesque Grade II listed property has an abundance of charm throughout with a well proportioned living space and large winter garden. Meanwhile, the pubs, cafes and restaurants of this thriving waterside community are right on your doorstep.

The route winds its way past the impressive skyscrapers of Canary Wharf and around the Isle of Dogs, and between miles 15 and 16 lies this superb 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in the prestigious, secure gated development, Ocean Wharf. It boasts a dual-aspect layout with breathtaking views across the River Thames and City skyline. It's just a short walk from the well-connected Canary Wharf station, as well as the neighbourhood's plethora of high-end shopping and dining. Beyond its reputation as a financial centre, the area is also home to incredible green spaces that offer an oasis of tranquillity while enjoying the best of urban living.

Heading back west and making their way towards the finish takes runners down the Victoria Embankment, past sights such as the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Enviably located in the heart of this vibrant central district is this four-bedroom property. Occupying the entire seventh floor of the Savoy Court apartments, it is positioned adjacent to the Savoy Hotel and accessed via a dedicated private entrance. Along with 24-hour concierge services, here you have the opportunity to enjoy the full facilities of the world-class hotel. Unusually these are accessible from a private door directly from the apartment to the hotel, offering an unparalleled lifestyle of comfort and convenience.

Whatever their time, those who complete the London Marathon are promised a spectacular finish. The final stretch heads down Birdcage Walk towards Buckingham Palace, before ending at The Mall. Along the way they may catch a glimpse of this fittingly grand home for sale. Its impressive 11,565 sq ft of living space stretches over three floors, resplendent with elegant details, beautifully proportioned rooms and a showstopping central staircase. With unbeatable views over St James’s Park and its own private entrance and lift, it presents a unique opportunity for elevated and discreet living in this desirable postcode.
