Mercure Northampton is a purpose-built full-service hotel that comprises 146 en-suite bedrooms, a substantial restaurant, contemporary bar area and flexible meeting / conference facilities, with scope to host 400 guests in its largest function room. The hotel, which was comprehensively refurbished in May 2024 when it was re-branded as a Mercure, enjoys high demand from corporate events and business tourism. The property is well-positioned in Northampton’s vibrant town centre, situated less than a 10-minute walk from Northampton Station with regular rail services to London Euston. Located along the M1 corridor, Northampton provides direct road links to key cities including Birmingham, Nottingham and Greater London and is in close proximity to popular leisure destinations such as Silverstone Race Circuit.

Stifford Hall Hotel is an elegant 18th-century manor house with 97 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, bar, meeting spaces and gazebo set within 3.7 acres of landscaped gardens. The hotel was also substantially refurbished as a Mercure, and reopened following the re-brand in June 2025. Situated in the traditional English village of North Stifford in Thurrock, the hotel offers a tranquil countryside environment with convenient access to major transport and commercial hubs. Its proximity to Tilbury Docks, the closest major cruise terminal to London, and the Dartford Crossing, which carries over 150,000 vehicles daily, as well as events spaces and landscaped grounds generate demand for both corporate and leisure stays.

The hotels have been listed for sale individually, but the vendor would also consider portfolio offers. Knight Frank is acting as the sole selling agent for both transactions.

Chris Field, Hotel Agency at Knight Frank, commented: “Mercure Northampton and Mercure Thurrock Stifford Hall both present excellent opportunities to acquire attractive hotel businesses in desirable locations. The recent refurbishment and re-branding of the hotels also offer an incoming purchaser the benefit of acquiring well capitalised assets that still provide further trading potential upside as they approach stabilisation. These hotels are located in markets that are likely to grow in the near future, with Northampton undergoing significant regeneration in the town centre and Thurrock set to benefit from the future development of Tilbury Docks and the Lower Thames Crossing. We look forward to securing purchasers for both assets.”
