Knight Frank advises on the sale of Woodchurch Wine Estate, Kent
Knight Frank has successfully advised on the sale of Woodchurch Wine Estate, an award winning vineyard set in the heart of Kent, to a group of local private buyers with ambitious plans for the future.
08 April 2026
The estate was marketed with a guide price of £1.5 million and has been acquired by four friends: Two husband‑and‑wife teams, Kelly and John Smith and Donna and Darren Worsley, all Kent locals with a shared passion for English wine.
Founded in 2009, Woodchurch Wine Estate is a thriving and highly regarded viticulture business with a strong reputation for quality and consistency. Every sparkling wine produced wins multiple national and international awards, including accolades from WineGB, Decanter, the International Wine Challenge and the Independent English Wine Awards. Production has recently expanded to include small‑batch still wines, which have sold out shortly after release.
A key feature of the estate is its architect‑designed winery and cellar door, which since completion in 2018 has welcomed thousands of visitors, underlining the strength of the brand and its wine tourism appeal.
Will Banham, Partner, Viticulture at Knight Frank, who advised on the sale, commented: “Woodchurch Wine Estate was established 16 years ago, and has been the passion project of Graham and Donna Barbour, who developed the business from a bare field to a thriving vineyard producing award‑winning wines, which are sold from their lovely cellar door tasting room and shop. It was a privilege to be entrusted with the sale, and to work closely with Graham and Donna to find the right new custodian for their business. Our clients were delighted to sell to local family buyers, with a real passion for wine, and who have exciting plans for the future of the business.”
Located between Tenterden and Ashford, Woodchurch Wine Estate benefits from strong transport links, proximity to London and a prime position within Kent’s rapidly growing wine tourism landscape. The new owners plan to build on the estate’s established reputation, enhance the visitor experience and continue producing high‑quality English wines rooted in the site’s distinctive terroir.
