Living in Wandsworth
Wandsworth is particularly attractive to families looking for green open spaces and good schooling with top-end private and state schools both available close by. All of the commons, be it Wandsworth, Clapham and Tooting along with Battersea Park with all their amenities are easily accessed from within the borough.
The area is known for having a village like atmosphere, with a good choice of specialist shops, bars and restaurants. Good transport links into both the City and the West end connects Wandsworth directly to Central London.
The Bellevue Village itself is an area forming a triangle between Bellevue Road, St James’s Drive and Nottingham Road, with Wiseton and Althorp roads in the centre. Between the Commons is located as the name suggests between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common with Northcote Road at the epicentre. Here you will find a densely built area of predominantly smaller terraced houses with patio gardens but with the buzz and convenience of Northcote road near by which is known for its bountiful array of restaurants, boutique shops, galleries, bars and specialist independent retailers.
The Heaver Estate is located between the Balham High Road and Tooting Common, and the Nightingale Lane conservation area, north of the high Road. The Heaver Estate comprises of mostly substantial red-brick terraced and semi-detached houses with large gardens for sale close to the green open space of Tooting Common.
Streatham is located on the South side of Tooting common across from the Heaver Estate. Providing better value than across the common the draw to the area is the array of substantial family houses often with driveways and still with very good communications into central London.
