Houses for sale in Herefordshire

Renowned for its pretty hamlets, villages and historic bustling market towns, there is an array of different styles of property in this area. Styles range from red sandstone and white stucco to red brick and black and white timber framed houses.

We sell a wide range of property including everything country estates, farms and equestrian properties to townhouses and cottages. There really is something for everyone. We have been selling the “best in class” properties for over 60 years, so many properties have been sold several times over by us.

On the Western flanks of the Three Counties (Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire) Herefordshire is the gateway to Wales and the South West.

Being a little further from London than the Cotswolds the area provides an overwhelming difference in house prices in exchange for a little longer on the train or in the car.

Once a well-kept secret, an increasing number of buyers are choosing to relocate to Herefordshire to capitalise on the current, competitive house prices and the more leisurely pace of life.

One key difference when compared to other parts of the country is that once people move to Herefordshire, they often stay long term. It is not unusual to sell houses that owners have lived in for over 30 years having relocated to the county from elsewhere.

Living in Herefordshire

It is no surprise Herefordshire has been voted the top place to live in the Midlands and one of the top places to live in the country (Sunday Times, 2016). The house prices, quality of life, excellent schooling and low crime rates are among just a handful of reasons to live in the area.

Few counties can boast having two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within its boundary. The Wye Valley and Malvern Hills provide some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

Agriculture remains a significant industry with cider apples, hops, Herefordshire cattle and Ryeland sheep being notable exports. Well known food fairs are held annually in Ludlow and nearby Abergavenny, and most towns have excellent regular farmers markets.

Leisure pursuits range from traditional country sports such as game shooting, fishing and hunting through to activity sports such as mountain biking, horse riding, hiking, canoeing and paragliding. Most towns and villages have cricket, rugby and football clubs among many others.

Culturally Herefordshire has a lot to offer. There are several good theatres dotted around the county with the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford being most notable. The internationally renowned Three Choirs Festival, Hay-on-Wye Book Festival, Ledbury Poetry Festival and Art Week are just a handful of many annual cultural events.

Birmingham, Bristol and London are all in commuter distance with direct trains available. The 5.30am Hereford train arrives in Paddington London at 8.30am, whilst there is always a seat there are growing numbers on the platform.

If you aspire for fresh air, the good life and friendly down to earth people, still within access of urban centres Herefordshire is for you.
