How Office Appearance and Location Impacts Your Corporate Image

How office appearance and location impacts your corporate image - Knight Frank

What your office looks and feels like can speak a great deal about your business. It tells people a lot about your approach to things such as innovation, employee satisfaction and sustainability. For this reason it’s important to consider the impact of your office design from the very start.

Attracting a retaining talent is essential these days, and a well thought out office can do wonders for recruitment and retention. The same goes for clients and business partners. Let’s take a look at just how much your office space plays a role in your corporate image, and what you can do about it.

First impressions count

We all know that first impressions really do count - your potential employees, clients and partners are forming opinions on your business from the very second they step in the door, or start their research. So, it’s important you create a positive company image from the very start.

Things that can go into impacting a first impression include; your website, high quality products/services, your office space, and your communication style. All of these things speak to your company’s values - and you want to promote these to attract the right clients and employees.

At the end of the day, your employees are those that will speak to your company’s success so it’s important they are treated with respect and given everything they need to succeed - whether that is a more supportive desk chair, or break-out spaces to think creatively. A well-designed office space can provide this.

Brand image and reputation: Personality matters

You can really have fun with your office space when it comes to branding and personality. Gone are the days of offices looking boring and uniform - now your space should reflect your culture and personality.

Furniture

That’s right, furniture can impact your company image. Obviously functionality is key - you want comfortable and functional furniture that helps employees, but it also needs to look good. Furniture and decor are the first things prospective clients, and employees see when they walk in so it should reflect your brand and how you see yourself as a company.

 Colour

Colour is key. The right choice of colour when it comes to paint and furniture is your brand's identity - you want everything to be cohesive and this is achieved through colour. Colour can also impact mood - so choose colours that encourage a happy space and productivity.

Functionality

As we’ve mentioned, functionality is important too. Employees benefit from things such as ergonomic furniture and access to natural light so these should be considered, just as much as the aesthetics of the office. The same goes for layout - some offices work better with more break out spaces, and co-working areas, whereas others don’t. Make sure to do what works for your business.

Clean spaces, green plants and natural light

Bringing the outdoors, indoors, isn’t just trendy - it has a number of benefits. Studies show that bringing nature into the office can actually boost productivity, well-being and moods.

This doesn’t just mean bringing a range of plants into the office (although that is beneficial), but it can include adding in natural materials such as wood, stone and moss. Not only do these elements look great, but they have so many more benefits too such as improving air quality and circulation.

The same goes for natural light. We all need Vitamin D, and especially in the UK where natural light can be lacking, it’s important to get as much of it into the office as possible to boost mood and morale.

Accessibility and convenience

It’s not only about the design inside the office, but also office location and convenience.

In a world post-covid, where employees are starting to head back into the office, convenience really is key. After all, we were all used to working from home and now we are commuting once again.

For central office spaces this means ensuring you are close to good transport links - consider how far away you are from transport links, so that your employees find coming into the office convenient.

It’s also key to consider nearby amenities - for employees heading out for their lunches or for entertaining clients, or socialising with colleagues. All of these small things go hand in hand to boost morale.

We know it can be hard to know exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to choosing the right office space for your business. We offer a range of flexible working spaces to suit your needs, so get in touch and we’ll help you start the process.
