Affordable London Office Spaces on the Elizabeth Line

Affordable London Offices on the Elizabeth Line | Knight Frank

You don’t have to be an Elizabeth Line mega fan to enjoy the benefits of London’s newly built, 73-mile railway line. Running as far west as Reading and Heathrow and as far east as Shenfield in Essex, the purple line is a significant addition to the capital’s rail network, bringing an extra 1.5 million people within 45 minutes of London.

May 2023 marks the one year anniversary of the Elizabeth line, or Crossrail as the construction project was previously called, and TFL is reporting the line has transported more than 100 million passengers in its first year. Some reports have also noted significant increases in office attendance across the Elizabeth Line, as many commuters are now more conveniently located for jobs in the capital. And business owners can now seriously consider typically premium office space in Paddington, Marylebone, Canary Wharf and other previously hard-to-reach locations.

The arrival of the Elizabeth Line has sent office rents soaring in areas along the line, but the good news is that there are still some great deals to be had on office space. And given their proximity to this state-of-the-art new transport link, they’ll also help you attract top talent and impress your clients.

Why Move Your Office Along The Elizabeth Line?

Its excellent public transport links make London one of the best-connected cities in Europe. But even in such an easy city to travel around, location is still everything. With competition for skilled workers so high, the ability to travel to work quickly can make a big difference to your appeal as an employer.

In central London, the line runs through many important business hubs such as Paddington, Farringdon and Liverpool Street, slashing commuting times as it goes. For example, the travel time between Canary Wharf and Liverpool Street has been slashed from 21 minutes to just six minutes, while the journey from Bond Street to Paddington now takes just three minutes.

The trains on the Elizabeth Line are also longer than others on the underground, hopefully alleviating that familiar rush hour squash, and they also free onboard Wi-Fi to make the process of travelling to and from work all the more attractive. Research shows that a good commute can have a positive effect on the wellbeing of your workers, and if employees find their journey more enjoyable, there should be a knock-on effect for your business.
