Bloor Homes are the largest privately owned housebuilder in the UK – one of the top 10 largest by volume. Like many developers, their land teams bought market reports as part of their site acquisition due diligence. However the automated reports available in the market made no reference to Bloor’s business needs, were entirely inflexible and rarely informed their decision making.
Yet Bloor Homes saw the value in creating a tailored site report that could be used across the UK by their land teams to ensure a consistent decision-making process and to allow for like-for-like comparison of sites.
The solution arrived at by the Research Consultancy team was to analyze over 16,000 of the client’s applicant and buyer records to create a set of detailed segmentation conclusions. These were then turned into a model which reflected the client’s desired market position, which in turn defined the content and output of a bespoke site assessment report.
This report combined an online GIS mapping platform with a report and scoring system designed to highlight the potential strengths and weaknesses of each site. In 2016 we generated over 100 of these bespoke site reports with the client altering their internal processes to place our research output at the heart of their acquisition strategy. In Q4 2017 we will be relaunching the model as an online self-service research portal which will allow their sales and land teams to come together to interrogate the data and maps in more detail.
