Describe the area

A new neighbourhood located where the city’s longest avenue – Avenida Diagonal – meets the Mediterranean. The area was regenerated ahead of the 1992 Olympics and is now home to the Museum of Natural Sciences, Diagonal Park, a three-storey mall and the landmark triangular Forum Building, an ingenious work by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.

Why the area is up and coming

The area’s accessibility and product offer is driving demand. Within a 15-minute metro ride of the Old Town but with its own cultural attractions on the doorstep, the area is attracting interest from both local and international buyers seeking large spacious apartments with enviable views across the Mediterranean and the cityscape.

My favourite bits

Quieter than Barcelona’s other beaches, Playa de Llevant offers volleyball courts and top notch chiringuitos (beach bars). Try Chiringuito Bambu or Chiringuito Escriba on nearby Playa de Bogatell if you want to sample some authentic seafood paella.

Who’s buying?

Middle Eastern, US and UK buyers are active at present, with some purchasing a second home for lifestyle reasons and others because they have children attending one of the city’s nine universities. The architecturally-renowned Barcelona Airport with direct flights from over 203 locations and Girona-Costa Brava Airport 90 minutes to the north make it easily accessible.
