Houses and flats for sale in the North Cotswolds
Whereas London and the Home Counties have seen slower markets in 2015, the North Cotswolds continues to have a strong demand for property purchases.
Although we have agreed a number of property sales in excess of £1,250,000, the greatest activity has been between £500,000 and £1,250,000 with Knight Frank’s market share 41% up on the last year in this sector.
Properties for sale in the recognised villages with amenities, schools and pubs are in great demand, especially if they are commutable to London. During the past 12 months, over 50% of our buyers have originated from London.
Living in the North Cotswolds
With its grand manors and gardens, quaint cottages and quiet country lanes, ancient woodland and rolling hills, the North Cotswolds is the quintessential English region and as such enjoys a global reputation as being one of the most desirable areas to live. Known for being the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with over 5,000KM of footpaths and rights of way, hundreds of cycle and riding trails, local shopping and fantastic pubs there is something for everyone in the North Cotswolds.
Communications by motorway and rail are excellent with trains from Moreton-in-Marsh and Kingham (from approximately 90 minutes) running directly into London Paddington. The M5 can be easily accessed from Cheltenham providing easy access to Birmingham in the North. With such good road and rail access, the North Cotswolds makes the perfect base for commuters.
Families are attracted to the Cotswolds due to the excellent schooling the region has to offer, both state and private. The area has fantastic sporting events such as racing, eventing, hunting, shooting and fishing. The region is infamous for its fantastic open gardens at Bourton House, Snowshill Manor and Batsford Arboretum to the wonderful Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, with Broadway and Chipping Campden providing a café culture to rival some of the countries larger cities. The picturesque villages along with the close proximity to the larger regency town of Cheltenham and the historic Cirencester make the North Cotswolds popular with families, weekenders and retirees.
