Living in The Park

The Park enjoys a superb position within Cheltenham with easy access to the town centre, motorway links and the railway station.

Originally The Park was part of an ambitious project to become a Zoo and Horticultural gardens. Unfortunately it eventually failed but was it was widely reported at the time that it was to be officially opened on the day of Queen Victoria's coronation in 1838. Elements of the original plan still remain with the Park landscaped to the shape of a teardrop which includes the elephants walk and a lake that is in the shape of Africa. The site was sold to architect Samuel Whitfield Daukes in 1839 who developed it as 'pleasure grounds' and designed and had built the crescent of villas around it. Today the centre of the park is now made up of the University grounds.

The nearby Bath Road with its wide variety of shops and amenities, close proximity to some of the best schools and wonderful tree lined roads make this quiet suburb of Cheltenham continue to be one of the most sought after areas of town.
