_The Collection: Hampstead Manor

13 landmark Grade II listed buildings have been immaculately converted to create a unique development in the leafy enclave of Hampstead Village.

Combining an intriguing mix of eras and architectural styles, Hampstead Manor presents 156 distinguished residences, ranging from studio apartments to four-bedroom homes. Whether you’re a young professional, a family or a downsizer, your perfect home can be found here.

The new development features the finest English craftsmanship, complemented by a rich history and cultural heritage dating back to 1843, when East India leather trader John Teil built the white-stuccoed Kidderpore Hall to embody the graceful architectural style of the Greek Revival movement.

Some fifty years later and the home was acquired by Miss Constance Maynard and Ann Dudin Brown, who turned it into Westfield College, a respected educational establishment for women with a special interest in botany. Fast-forward to the mid twentieth century, and teachers and students formed the foundations for the now world-renowned Queen Mary University, before the site became a King’s College London campus in 1989.

Today, the development’s fascinating past lives on. Painstakingly restored period features such as ornamental cornices and stained glass windows hint at Hampstead Manor’s rich heritage – one particular unit presents original features from its past as a laboratory in the women’s college.

A distinctive sense of space and style is prominent throughout each of the 13 buildings. Biodiverse homes in Sumray Row feature warm, rustic charm brought to life by a cool palette with splashes of colour; the converted historical Maynard House features 16 apartments overlooking leafy green spaces; The Skeel Library and The Chapel offer one-of-a-kind, Grade II listed properties as a four-storey, four-bedroom family home and single, four-bedroom residence respectively, both dating back to the early 20th century.

In addition to refined, contemporary interiors by the highly regarded Johnson Ribolla, Goddard Littlefair and Bowler James Brindley, residents of Hampstead Manor can enjoy an array of amenities. There’s a swimming pool, gym and spa; a town car service running to nearby train and tube stations; and meticulously maintained gardens throughout the site.

Despite being under 30 minutes from central London, Hampstead Village has retained the precious feel of a community, a safe and leafy enclave away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The main high street is lined with local independent stores selling everything from fresh fish and vegetables to antique instruments and books. A number of excellent schools, both private and public, are also within the area.

Overseen by Central London’s specialist residential developer Mount Anvil, the next chapter of Hampstead Manor is about to be written – and you could be part of it.

Hampstead Manor is undergoing phased completion, with the final product due to be ready by the end of this year. To find out more, click below or get in touch with Victoria Fenton, Associate in the New Homes team. We’d love to hear from you.
