_Working from home: London's business friendly new homes with work spaces

A slew of luxury new homes are cropping up across the capital where developers are blurring the boundaries of how and where residents live, work and play. We take you on a tour of six of the best developments with on-site work spaces that rival those of trendy flexible office providers.
November 19, 2018

Recent data from the ONS reveals that one in seven people work from home with many more working flexibly, remotely or outside of conventional hours.

High-end developers and big name architects know that as part of their 'aspirational amenity' offering - the cinema rooms, luxury gyms and rooftops bars - the needs of a new breed of resident of no fixed time zone or permanent desk must be met in order to be relevant in the age of convenience and hyper-connectivity.

Cue the in-house business lounges and flexible working suites decked with high-speed accoutrements, bottomless coffee stations and killer views.

Wooing residents hoping to save on leasing office space or the cost of commuting, some developers are going as far as replicating the ultra hip 'co-working' space environments of flexible office providers such as WeWork; places where like-minded residents can network and swap ideas over a coffee or cocktail under the same roof.

After delivering a multi-national presentation home workers can network in purpose-built event spaces, on-site bars or private dining rooms with in-house catering.

We look at London's luxury developments where residents can roll out of bed and straight into the office before they've even had a morning coffee.

Lillie Square, Earls Court

Touted as London's premier residents' club, five-star development Lillie Square in Earls Court offers exceptional apartments, townhouses and penthouses set amongst landscaped garden squares in a newly rebooted enclave of west London.

At the heart of Lillie Square is The Clubhouse - a glamorous private residents' club with all the trimmings. Amenities include a lounge with its own library where residents can work remotely and refuel at an in-house coffee bar.

To sweeten the deal, clients can be wined and dined at the clubhouse dining room where the residents are the sommeliers. Part of The Clubhouse's offering is a state-of-the-art wine storage room for keen oenophiles to keep their collections in.

Without leaving the confines of The Clubhouse, there’s the option to soothe away stresses in the 20-metre swimming health and well-being facilities, including a 20-metre swimming pool, sauna and swimming.

Delivering a work-from-home owner's dream on many levels is Goodman's Fields - a new development in Aldgate moments from The City.
