_Former Bristol gasworks transformed into new homes at Brandon Yard complete this summer

Ongoing regeneration of Bristol's waterfront will give the area another shot in the arm as new development Brandon Yard is set to complete in the summer of 2019.

Once the beating heart of Bristol's maritime past, the city's port was for centuries central to fortune, trade and industry; where seamen and adventurers embarked on world voyages to the New World. 

Since the decline in dockside trade, the last 40 years have seen Bristol Harbourside transform from a fading area to one of Bristol's most vibrant destinations, buzzing with bars and restaurants and cultural attractions.

The latest in a slew of regeneration projects is the redevelopment of the northern section of Bristol Harbourside - the Grade II-listed 19th century Canon’s Marsh gasworks - now home to new development Brandon Yard due to complete this summer.

Sitting opposite Brunel’s SS Great Britain - the first ironclad ship to sail the Atlantic - the development will be the final piece in the extensive makeover of this sought-after area. 

Lined with original cobbled pathways, icons of Bristol's industrial heritage are proudly on display including the cargo cranes from the city’s 1950s trading heyday.

An Acorn Property Group led development in partnership with Galliard Homes, the scheme will offer 58 one, two and three bedroom apartments across a trio of buildings which honour the area's maritime and industrial legacy and are designed around a landscaped communal garden with river views. 

The two original Victorian gasworks buildings, Engine House and Oculus House - used to house the purifier for the gaswork - have been fully renovated with much of the brickwork and unique circular windows preserved and the original chimney serving as a historical signpost for the riverfront's redeveloped skyline. 

A contemporary third apartment building, New Retort House will provide 41 apartments ranging from one to three-beds, many of which have river-facing balconies or outdoor terraces.

The apartments all have luxury fittings, including handleless gloss kitchens by Leicht, engineered timber floors and a high-performance aluminium window system.

As part of redevelopment, the harbourside path that runs alongside the site will allow residents to enjoy the waterside location and access the city centre through cycle paths and walking routes.

Brandon Yard is a 20 minute-walk from Bristol Temple Meads station and Bristol city centre. 

Bristol is the second largest city in the South of England, and is hosting one of the largest urban regeneration projects currently taking place in the country.

The city offers wide cultural offerings and good access to London; trains from Bristol Temple Meads reach London Paddington in less than an hour and a half, with electrification due to make this even quicker. Access to London is also easy for commuters via the M4. 

Two-bedroom apartments from £395,000 (available with Help to Buy), and three-bedroom apartments from £825,000.
