Digital Mapping
Good quality plans are an essential element in the effective management of property, whether supporting sales, land registration, strategic planning or the ongoing management of estates, country houses and farms.
The Mapping and GIS Department has both the resources and specialist mapping software, including a Geographical Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. With access to the whole range of latest digital Ordnance Survey (OS) background mapping data, we can provide all your mapping, data capture and spatial analysis requirements.

Further details include the preparation of a wide variety of plans, including
- Boundary extents - for sales brochures, solicitors and land registration, including searches of the Land Registry (LR) index map
- Land use, including acreage schedules
- Location plans
- Valuations / plotting areas
- Farming / woodland grants & subsidies
- Leases, tenancies, licenses, easements, utilities, etc
- Compilation of multiple LR title plans onto the one manageable plan
- Public Rights of Way, as per the local Definitive Map
- Sporting rights
- Strategic development, including potential land / building uses and target acquisitions (including digitising neighbouring LR title plan information)
- Administrative boundaries
- Aerial imagery / contours
- Ability to include a wide range of digital environmental data, eg SSSI, AONB, SAC, SPA, LNR, NNR, RAMSAR, Agricultural Land Classifications, etc

All plans are based on the latest OS digital mapping. Plans can be provided in colour, up to A0 in size or in digital format if preferred, for example JPG, TIF, PDF, etc.
The verification of boundaries
- Undertaking site surveys, including the staking out and / or capturing of boundaries using a GPS linked to the GIS for the preparation of plans based on the data captured.
- The comparison of sales, deeds, land registry and historic plans, with each other and / or with the physical boundaries on site if required.
- Boundary inspections, including descriptions, photographs and the highlighting of any areas of encroachment or likelihood thereof.
The provision of a consultancy service
- Provision of a GIS and on-site GPS data capture and analysis service.
- Mapping advice tailored to a client’s individual land and property interests.
- Guidance on the acquisition, implementation and use of mapping software and data, including installation, training and liaison with suppliers.
