Lower Broadheath is the birthplace of Worcester’s most famous son Sir Edward Elgar and his birthplace museum can be found there. The Shelsleys are scattered hamlets in a hidden valley of the River Teme set amidst beautiful countryside with distant views of the Malvern and Clee Hills.
History of West Worcester
The City has a rich history from the time it was a centre for trade up and down the River Severn. Worcester Cathedral is a magnificent sight as it rises majestically above the river and has been the seat of a bishopric since the Seventh Century.
The Battle of Worcester in September 1651 was the last battle of The English Civil War between Oliver Cromwell and Charles ll and the Scots.
