History

Vauxhall only started to be developed in the mid 18th century. Before then it was mostly a market garden area supplying the city. The railway terminus, Vauxhall Cross, was originally built in the 1840s. The area is also notable for the MI6 building, constructed in the early 1990s.

Lambeth is perhaps best known for Lambeth Palace, which has been the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury since the 15th century.
