Regents Park Area Guide

Why live in Regents Park

The elegant, period buildings of Regent’s Park are situated next to one of London’s finest green spaces. Here, the Queen is your neighbour and properties are always in high demand. Regent’s Park offers tranquillity and opportunities for outdoor pursuits, combined with all the benefits of central-London living.

History

Rural beginnings

Regent’s Park started out as part of the forest of Middlesex, a favourite hunting ground for the kings of England. It passed to the Manor of Tyburn in 1066 and was appropriated by Henry VIII during the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century.

Lost and regained

King Charles I lost Regent’s Park, along with the rest of his lands (and his head), in 1649. However, the estate was later restored to the crown and used as farmland.

Creating a residential haven

In 1811, architect John Nash developed Regent’s Park into a residential area, winning a competition to carry out the work. He is largely responsible for the beauty of the park and its surroundings today.

Property type
