North Warwickshire Area Guide
Why live in North Warwickshire
Warwickshire is truly at the heart of the country, boasting some of the most attractive towns and villages in England. There is something for everyone here, from the thriving city of Coventry, with its varied nightlife and renowned arts scene based at the Warwick Arts Centre, to the smaller, historic market towns. Rugby is home to the famous public school of the same name, while Nuneaton was the birthplace of nineteenth century novelist George Eliot. The area has excellent transport links with Birmingham, Leicester and London.
North Warwickshire is the home of...
Rugby football where the game was invited by William Webb Ellis at the prestigious school and Lady Godiva who, legend has it, rode naked through the streets of Coventry in England in order to gain a remission of taxes.
History
Warwickshire made a name for itself during the industrial revolution as a result of its productive coal fields and impressive train and canal network.
As well as its infamous connection with Lady Godiva, Coventry played a pivotal role in the history of World War Two and was nearly destroyed during the Blitz. Its role as a munitions centre made it a crucial target.
Rugby is of course believed to be the home of the sport of the same name, allegedly invented by William Webb Ellis at the prestigious Rugby School in 1823.
Property type
There are a wide range of properties available, from one-off developments and loft- style apartments to Edwardian villas and more modern family homes.
