History
Fetcham
Inhabited since pre-historic times, Fetcham appears in the Doomsday book. It is the location of an impressive stately home – the 18th Century Fetcham Park House – and St Mary’s Church, which has been a place of worship for more than a thousand years.
Leatherhead
The origins of Leatherhead are Anglo-Saxon. Although there is no mention of the town in the Doomsday Book, there is reference to the church of Leatherhead. The town grew up on the east side of the River Mole, close to the boundary of the manors of Pachesham and Thorncroft. With the arrival of a railway line in 1864, the last remaining fields became covered by shops and homes.
