History of Edgbaston

Edgbaston is one of the oldest areas of Birmingham. According to the Doomsday book it used to be called Celebestone and was originally a gift from William the Conqueror to a William Fitz-Ansculf.

There are many areas of historical importance in Edgbaston, the most renowned being Calthorpe Estate, the most desirable residential area in Edgbaston, where elegant Georgian properties blend with contemporary buildings amid tree lined avenues in one of Britain’s largest urban conservation areas.
