Battersea Area Guide

Why live in Battersea

Attractive Victorian architecture, superb facilities and the exceptional green space that is Battersea Park make this riverside area attractive for home-buyers at all stages of life.

Battersea has seen major growth in recent years along its waterfront, where formerly industrial areas have been replaced by modern residential communities that typically offer security and concierge services, leisure facilities and secure parking. These benefits of modern living, combined with stunning river views mean that such properties are often sought out in preference over more traditional homes.

History of Battersea

In the last two hundred years, Battersea has grown from the original village around Battersea Square to the large urban community it is today. The area was mostly farmland until the industrial revolution, when factories and wharfs sprang up along the riverside and new bridges were built to provide transport links north of the river. From the 1970s, industry began to move away and has been progressively replaced by a growing residential community.
