History of Bath
Bath has an interesting history dating back to the Romans but it was in the 18th century that it gained its lasting reputation as being a genteel and fashionable place. Many fine buildings were built and during the summer months the city was home to many wealthy visitors. Whilst many towns grew at a much faster rate, Bath remained a market town. Bath is now a World Heritage City renowned for its beautiful architecture, surrounding countryside and multitude of cultural and recreational opportunities.
