Living in Andover

The market town of Andover is in North Hampshire and has a good range of shops and amenities (including a Waitrose supermarket), with parks, lakes, woods and forest nearby.   For those needing to commute the A303 and M3 provide access to London and the West Country, and the A34 connects to the north. Train journeys from Andover to London Waterloo take about 70 minutes. Families are also attracted by the excellent schooling in the area - independent schools include Farleigh, Cheam, Godolphin, Winchester College and Horris Hill.

Villages around Andover to the south include Wherwell, Abbots Ann and the Clatfords whilst to the north are Vernham Dean, Hurstbourne Tarrant, The Chutes, St Mary Bourne and Stoke. These pretty “Bourne Vale” villages, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, have become increasingly popular of late. They combine the pleasures of rural living with good communications and easy access to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury.

Those needing to commute to London can take the train from Andover to London Waterloo, or more locally from Grateley.  Well regarded private schools in the area include Farleigh Prep School, Godolphin in Salisbury and Winchester College.
