Living in Wantage
Wantage is a lovely market town in the historic Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, and has a good range of shops and services, including plenty of places to eat and drink. The market square itself is full of delightful, independent shops, pubs and cafes. There are a number of annual fairs, markets, Farmer’s Markets, French and Italian Markets and an amazing Dickensian Evening held every December. The city of Oxford, about 14 miles away, has more extensive shopping facilities and exceptional recreational and cultural opportunities.
Access to London Paddington via Didcot takes about 45 minutes while the A34 provides easy access to Oxford and the M40 to the north, and Newbury and the M4 to the south. Junction 13 of the M4 is about 17 miles away. As well as good state schools there are excellent independent schools in the area including Cothill, Pinewood, St Hugh’s and The Manor as well as Abingdon, Radley, St Edwards, The International School near Abingdon, St Helens and St Catherine’s, Magdalen College and Oxford High.
The surrounding area is populated with many picturesque villages, each with their own character and charm, including Brightwalton, East and West Hendred, Kingston Lisle, Letcombe Bassett and Letcombe Regis, Chaddleworth and Childrey.
