Living in Andover
The market town of Andover is located in Hampshire, renowned for its beautiful countryside. The town has a good range of shops and amenities (including a Waitrose supermarket), with parks, lakes, woods and forest nearby. Communications are excellent, with the A303 and M3 providing access to London and the West Country, and the A34 providing access to the north and south. Trains from Andover into London Waterloo take approximately 70 minutes. People are also attracted by the schooling in the area; there are a number of good independent schools including Farleigh, Cheam, Godolphin, Winchester College and Horris Hill.
The area around Andover is dotted with many picturesque villages, each with their own individual character and charm, including Vernham Dean, Hurstbourne Tarrant, The Chutes, St Mary Bourne and Stoke. These pretty “Bourne Vale” villages, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, have become increasingly popular of late. They combine the pleasures of rural living with good communications and easy access to thriving cities such as Winchester and Salisbury, the latter being famous for its cathedral.
