Houses and flats for sale in The Duchy
The Duchy Estate in Harrogate originates from The Duchy of Lancaster, a private estate owned by Her Majesty The Queen, as Duke of Lancaster. The estates consist of 18,433 hectares of land in England and Wales, the majority of which are in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Lincolnshire.
The Duchy Estate is highly desirable for both commuters and families. Harrogate Station is an easy walk with regular trains for York to Leeds for those wishing to commute to London Kings Cross. Education in the area is outstanding with excellent schooling within a reasonable walk including Harrogate Ladies College and Brackenfield Preparatory School. Weekenders can find peace, good local shopping, good pubs and walks and various local events within a short drive.
It is a tight community on The Duchy, they have their own ‘Duchy Residents Association’ website where homeowners can join and unite to preserve and protect the interests of the area with it being one of several Harrogate Conservation Areas.
The sense of community runs through The Duchy Estate giving a feel of village life although residents are actually a stone’s throw from the abundant amount of facilities found in central Harrogate. For example, Grade I listed St Winifred’s church is not only a place of worship but a community hub for activities from art exhibitions to Quiz Nights and Scouts.
