Wetherby is a market town situated North of Leeds with good access to the A1(M) motorway and being mid-way between London and Edinburgh, it forms part of the Yorkshire ‘Golden Triangle’ of York, Harrogate and North Leeds.
Close to the centre of Wetherby there are several roads that attract families to the area due to their good connections to schools such as Gateways and The Grammar School at Leeds. Examples of these are Linton Park View an affluent area of private houses, mostly built in the 1970s in the northwest of Wetherby and Spofforth Hill named after the road that passes through is an affluent area off the A661 to Harrogate. It contains many large detached houses from Victorian times onwards.
There are several villages on the outskirts of Wetherby that are notorious for their large family homes such as Collingham; 2 miles south east of Wetherby There is a Post Office, shops and service businesses, a sports centre and a primary school (which boasts being top state primary school in 2013). Another is Linton, 1.5 miles south west of Wetherby, with many properties having the serenity brought by river frontage. The village has a well-attended pub and would suit those with a sporting interest with its own tennis courts and short distances away from some of the most exclusive golf clubs in Yorkshire. In the direction of Harrogate, north of Wetherby there are the likes of Spofforth, Sicklinghall and Kirkby Overblow on our ‘most wanted’ list.
The latter is a well-connected village situated just a 15 minute drive from both the facilities found in the spa town of central Harrogate and Wetherby. The village is popular not only for its amenities but for its setting, ideal for commuting to the West Yorkshire conurbations of Leeds and Bradford and for those needing to travel further afield there is an ever expanding range of flight options available at Leeds Bradford International Airport just a 20 minute drive to the west. The village itself has a range of local amenities such as two pubs, a church, a very well regarded primary school (achieving good and outstanding grades from its latest Ofsted inspection) and its very own amateur dramatics society ‘Kirkby Overblow Amateur Dramatic Society’ (KODS). The village is perched on the edge of Lower Wharfedale with many of the properties retaining southerly views towards the Harewood House Estate attracting not only families escaping the rat run and returning to their Yorkshire roots but also those looking for a relaxed and peaceful way of life.
