Houses and flats for sale in Wiltshire

Wiltshire is popular with Londoners looking for a second home and is also a popular place to retire to.  It is also popular with families as it is so easy to commute to almost any region in country via the M4 and M5 motorways.  Wiltshire is also very desirable for anyone looking to buy farms or houses with land; it is especially popular with those who have equestrian interests.  Country cottages, village houses, barn conversions, manor houses and country houses and estates are the sorts of property which Knight Frank sell in Wiltshire.

Areas we cover

Living in Wiltshire

North Wiltshire offers some beautiful rural landscapes dominated by rivers and gently rolling countryside. Ashton Keynes is home to the Cotswold Water Park, which is made up of 140 beautiful lakes. Cricklade, Purton, Lydiard Millicent and Wootton Bassett are lovely towns close to Swindon, a fast-growing city with abundant job opportunities and quick, easy access to London via the M4 or by rail. Swindon has excellent city facilities. There are modern shopping malls, leisure and sports venues and many successful business and industries. There is some good industrial architecture being associated with Brunel, but lacks the charm of other nearby cities.

The ancient North Wiltshire town of Malmesbury lies just six miles north of Junction 17 of the M4 on the southern edge of the Cotswolds. Malmesbury is an ancient hill town almost surrounded by rivers and home to an exceptional abbey, and gardens with shops, hotels and cafes to browse and first class walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside.  Dyson, the well-known technology company, has its headquarters on the outskirts of the town.

To the west are the pretty rural villages of Sherston, Didmarton and Badminton, all of which offer the best of country living.

Wiltshire is less glamorous than its neighbour Gloucestershire and yet can compare in many ways.  It is popular with Londoners looking for a second home and is also a popular place to retire to.  It is also popular with families as it is so easy to commute to almost any region in country via the M4 and M5 motorways and there are many superb schools nearby, both state and private.  Wiltshire is also very desirable for anyone looking to buy farms or houses with land or smallholdings; it is especially popular with those who have equestrian interests.  Country cottages, village houses, barn conversions, manor houses and country houses and estates are the sorts of property which Knight Frank sell in North Wiltshire.
