Living in North Somerset

North Somerset covers an area of some 145 square miles and borders Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and Sedgemoor.  Within the area there are many pretty villages and attractive hamlets all of which are within easy commute of the M5 and M4 motorways. Railway stations at Yatton, Backwell and Weston super Mare all have fast trains to London (Paddington).  There is an excellent choice of private schooling in Bristol and Bath. In Somerset there is the Wells Cathedral School at Wells, Millfield School at Street, Sidcot Quaker School and Downside Abbey at Stratton on the Fosse.  There are well respected secondary schools at Backwell, Churchill, Cheddar, Wells and the Chew Valley.

Bristol Airport is about 8 miles to the south west of Bristol.

The whole area is renowned for its leisure and sporting activities.  There is walking, riding, caving and abseiling over the Mendip Hills.  There are a number of golf courses, racing at Bath, sailing and fishing on Blagdon Lake and fishing on Chew Valley Lake.  In the month of August, balloons are often seen from the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta drifting across some of the North Somerset villages.
