Business Rates Revaluation
How can Knight Frank help?
The 2005 rating list commenced on April 1st 2005 and will stay in force until March 31st 2010. These assessments are intended to represent the annual rent the accommodation would let for on the open market as at the fixed date of April 1st 2003.
The current level of appeals against the 2005 list remains at an all time low, however reductions are still being achieved and there is still plenty of scope to appeal against your current assessment. Importantly any reductions secured can potentially be backdated to April 2005 so making an appeal could prove very worthwhile.
Please note that the Deadline to appeal is 31st March 2010

2010 Rating List – Be Prepared
The wheels are already in motion for the 2010 rating revaluation. April 2008 saw the valuation date come into force upon which the next revaluation period will be based. Crucially, the last time properties were assessed was in April 2003, a period when many commercial sectors were in recession. In contrast the new rates assessments will be based on the buoyant rental market of Spring 2008 before the economy became gripped by the downturn. This means occupiers could face sharp increases in their rates at a time when they can least afford it.
We are happy to discuss what steps can be taken to minimise the increases that are expected.
