Mixed use
The Residential Development Team started out in 1987, with rapid growth throughout the regions during the 1990s and mixed-use initiatives being rolled out since 1994, meaning that we are now the most established mixed-use consultant.
Knight Frank has been involved in over 60 pure mixed-use schemes covering every major conurbation in the UK and including:
- 35,000 residential units
- 7 million sq ft of office space
- 1.4 million sq ft of retail/A3 space
- 3,400 hotel rooms
- 400,000 sq ft of leisure space
- Gross Development Value in excess of £25 billion
Stephan Miles-Brown, Knight Frank's Head of Residential Development, believes that mixed-use 'as an important constituent part of the urban renewal process will be the property sector over the next five years.' Furthermore, Stephan anticipates that the sector will be dominated by what he describes as 'uber' developers and the smaller 'boutique' development companies, who will be exceptionally successful in their specialised areas.
Knight Frank is unique in its coverage of both the residential and commercial markets and has an unrivalled track record in the due diligence of key mixed-use schemes across the UK.
Mixed Use Research
Knight Frank has commissioned a unique piece of research on mixed-use, which is intended to provide a clear understanding of the sector as a whole and an insight into the ingredients required to make a mixed-use scheme successful.
This seminal piece of research on the latest sector to shape and influence the property market has been written by the mixed-use research team and was launched at Sanderson Hotel on 4th May 2004. The report looks at the emergence and future trends of the rapidly evolving mixed-use sector.
