Working with developers, investors, landlords, funds and tenants, we provide a wide range of professional building surveying related services associated with the practical aspects of owning, leasing, maintaining, developing and investing in commercial property across a building’s life cycle. We drive property values and manage risk in changing and uncertain times. 

Our experienced Building Consultancy team comprises of over 50 chartered building surveyors and project managers, operating from 12 offices with full coverage across the whole of the UK and Ireland. With access to a network of local experts located across Europe, we delivery across all commercial property sectors including offices, industrial, hotels, healthcare, retail, education, student property and institutional properties.

Charles Ingram

Charles Ingram Evans (Partner)

Head of Project and Building Consultancy

Charles joined Knight Frank in 2018 to lead the UK Project & Building Consultancy team. A chartered Building Surveyor, Charles has specialised in due diligence, development delivery and advisory roles. Understanding the commercial aspects of different asset cases is key to Charles’ approach and providing strategic and relevant technical services for acquisition and asset enhancement feasibility studies and project delivery.

Andrew Burt

Andrew has worked at Knight Frank for over ten years and is experienced in a range of commercial building surveying disciplines, specialising in dilapidation matters, acquisition surveys, project management and contract administration, including detailed design and specification.

Craig Frost

Craig Frost (Partner)

London, Project Management

Craig joined Knight Frank in 2006 as a Partner from Concert Consulting, having previously been an Associate Director at DTZ.

A Chartered Building Surveyor and Architectural Technician, he has extensive experience in Project Management and Workplace Consultancy of refurbishment and fit-out projects for commercial occupiers and investors as well as new build industrial and residential projects.

Paul Prior

Paul is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with almost 25 years’ experience within the industry. Specialising in commercial refurbishment and fit out for the past 15 years, Paul was appointed by Knight Frank in 2015 to lead the Cost Consultancy team.

Paul has experience in all forms of procurement and construction Contracts and has worked with most major UK developers and many ‘blue chip’ end user Clients.

Andy Tichopad

Andy is a Chartered Engineer and joined Knight Frank in July 2019. He is leading with the M&E offering in the Building Consultancy Team. He has extensive knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Services for a widespread range of property types ranging from commercial, residential, offices, retail and general estates, acting on behalf of major clients with interests in London and the South and overseas in connection with technical due diligence surveys, dilapidations, licence to alter, planned maintenance programmes, contract administration, feasibility studies, condition surveys, project management, pre-development and statutory compliance audits.

Alex Soltynski

London, Client Relationships

Alex is a Partner in the Project & Building Consultancy team, with a focus on looking after client relationships. She is a central part of the P&BC senior management team, ensuring close engagement and collaboration with clients and project stakeholders. A part 1 qualified architect, she has an underlying great passion for the industry – for the people with whom we work, as well as the real impact that we can make on our environment.

Grant Hendry

Grant is an associate in our building consultancy team and joined Knight Frank in 2007. He is involved in the full range of services offered by the building consultancy department including surveys, insurance reinstatement valuations, dilapidations and project management including architectural work on all types of commercial property for a variety of different clients.

Drew Watkins

Drew Watkins (Partner)

Birmingham Office

Drew leads the Project and Building Consultancy service line within Knight Frank Birmingham. Having qualified in 2001, Drew has over 21 years of experience and is responsible for providing both professional and project services to a wide range of public and private sector investor and occupier clients. He has experience in all aspects of commercial building surveying, covering pre-acquisition/technical due diligence for purchaser and vendor; dilapidations negotiations for both landlord and tenant; party walls; project management and employers agent; contract administration; project & development monitoring.

As a RICS Registered Valuer, He provides valuation services of specialised property assets such as hospitals; airports; education for financial reporting using the Depreciated Replacement Cost method of valuation. Based in Birmingham, Drew initially joined DTZ Debenham Tie Leung as a graduate, then moving to Atisreal (now BNP Paribas) before re-joining DTZ as an Associate Director, joining Knight Frank in 2015.

Christian Crawford

Christian Crawford (Partner)

Bristol Office

Christian joined Knight Frank in January 2018 and is based in the Bristol Commercial office, where he heads up the Project and Building Consultancy team. Christian joined from Cushman and Wakefield, where he had been based since 2011 and prior to that worked for Lambert Smith Hampton. Covering the south west, Christian works with investors, funds and occupiers on a range of commercial property and is experienced in a variety of commercial Building Surveying disciplines, including Dilapidations, Technical Due Diligence surveys, Project Management, Contract Administration, Reinstatement Cost Assessments for insurance purposes and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) inspections.

Christian has worked for a variety of clients including local individuals and large national clients and on an extensive variety of property types. Christian’s experience is wide ranging to reflect his broad client base and includes Management of Projects from £10,000 to in excess of £2 million and Dilapidations claims from £20,000 to in excess of £1 million. Christian is also an Incorporated Member of the Association of Project Safety (IMaPS) and fulfils the role of Principal Designer on larger projects.

Richard Wooller

Richard Wooller is a Partner and Head of Project & Building Consultancy in the Cardiff office. Richard joined Knight Frank in 2001 to develop the Building Project Consultancy Services across the region. He originally qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in London and moved back to Wales in 1994. Richard has over 23 years experience in providing Building Consultancy Services to both public and private sector clients, with strong track record in reinstatement valuations, development monitoring, project management, contract administration, building surveys and dilapidations.

Richard has over 25 years of Building Surveying and leads our Scottish Project and Building Consultancy Team. Richard undertakes a mix of professional consultancy and project management work streams. A chartered Building Surveyor, Richard has specialised in due diligence, project management, development monitoring and advisory roles.

Alan Sime

Alan is an Associate in our Project & Building Consultancy team. Alan re-joined Knight Frank in 2023 to strengthen and grow the Project & Building Consultancy offering in Scotland, having previously worked for the business earlier in his career in both our Glasgow and London offices. A Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in commercial building surveying and project management, Alan provides a full range of professional and project services to private and public sector investor and occupier clients. Alan specialises in complex dilapidations claims, acting for both landlord and tenant clients, often as an Expert Witness. Alan also has a strong track record in delivery of general commercial building surveying services, including pre-acquisition technical due diligence advice for purchaser and vendor clients; building reinstatement cost assessments; schedules of condition; planned maintenance programmes; contract administration of refurbishment and fit out works; and project management.

James Green

James joined Knight Frank in April 2016 as a Graduate Building Surveyor within the Leeds Building Consultancy Department, providing professional services, dilapidations advice and contract administration roles across commercial, retail and industrial sectors. James has acted on behalf of a variety of clients, ranging from major funds to owner occupiers and private investors, offering advice to both landlords and tenants.

Nick Platt

Nick Platt (Partner)

Manchester Office

Nicholas is a Partner of Knight Frank’s Manchester Commercial Project and Building Consultancy. With in excess of 10-years’ post qualification experience, areas of expertise are pre-acquisition surveys of trophy office buildings and large-scale office and industrial estates. Landlord and tenant dilapidation claims are also areas of particular expertise with prosecution and defending in excess of £1 million worth of claims respectively. Design and Project Management services, party wall, defect diagnosis reports form part of day-to-day client led services. Areas of expertise for all the aforementioned include: commercial, automotive and healthcare.

Ian Tew

Ian Tew (Partner)

Newcastle Office

Ian leads the Project and Building Consultancy Service Line in the North East of England. Ian is responsible for providing all aspects of professional building consultancy related advice to Knight Frank's public and private sector client in the North East of England.

Ian specialises in the project management of occupier office relocations, fit out and moves. Ian has extensive experience in developing challenging requirements into workable programmes, in particulars, on fast track projects where clients have limited time frames. Ian has undertaken occupier focussed projects across all main commercial project sectors, including legal, banking, corporate, media, education and technology. He has undertaken various roles in the development process of Design, Project Management and Development Monitoring of numerous new build, repair and refurbishment projects ranging from £10,000 to over £30,000,000 in construction cost. In addition, Ian provides advice to occupiers and landlords in respect of cost in use, repair and refurbishment advice and exit strategy. Ian has acted in a single and joint capacity as Expert Witness to Court on both dilapidations and property development.

Jonathan Ingleby

Jonathan qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1997 and has worked in the Yorkshire property market for over 20 years focusing on professional consultancy, project management and workplace consultancy services for a wide range of local and national clients including national banks, institutional funds, landlords and occupiers.
