32 bedroom historic castle for sale in Ackergill, Scotland

Castles for sale in the UK aren't ten a penny, but the popular search term demonstrates a clear and collective aspiration to own one. The 32-bedroom, 15th Century Ackergill Castle on Scotland's coast has certainly piqued the interest and imagination of the public - the question is, what would you do if you were handed the keys?

With extensive bedrooms and secondary accommodation, function rooms, 30 acres of land, its own pub and Europe's largest treehouse, the opportunities are many.

Would-be hoteliers will no doubt relish the task of creating an award-winning hotel and wedding venue or for those after a quieter pace of light might consider having friends and family over to stay, once in a wee while.

Current owner have gone to town on creating an avant-garde masterpiece that rivals the world class, interior designed properties that grace the covers of glossy magazines.

The main living space is a real talking point - an ode to modern art floodlit by two period ceiling cupolas - and great for entertainment. French doors leading out to the private terrace which offers great views across Edinburgh and the stunning period crescent the apartment occupies.

Seven bedroom palatial home in the heart of Westminster

With views of Big Ben, the House of Lords and Westminster Abbey from its roof terrace, the Grade II Listed Mansion House in the heart of London's Westminster has piqued the interest of the public in 2018.

Available for the first time in generation the seven bedroom stately home - former HQ of the Liberal Democrat party - sits in a prime spot on Cowley Steet SW1P - one of the best preserved Georgian streets in London.

Designed by Horace Field in the early 20th century, this very special house features an impressive 50' facade, ornate gilding and four metre cupola. Mod cons include a 10 metre indoor pool with spa and gym, roof terrace, walk-in wine room, cinema room, 16-person dining room and eight-person lift.

One of the most viewed properties in 2018 is the spectacular and utterly unique 21st Century family home converted in 2013 from a redundant water tower near Kenilworth.

A contemporary masterpiece on the North Devon coast overlooking Combe Martin Bay, Stealth House is one of the most striking homes currently available through Knight Frank. Primed for grand scale entertaining with added bonus of complete privacy, the property was completed in the summer of 2018 replacing a tired clifftop bungalow.

The five bedroom property claims a prime, elevated spot overlooking the Bristol Channel; 4,300 sq ft of internal living space merges with uninterrupted seascape, with extensive and astute use of floor-to-ceiling glass windows and industrial-scale lanterns flooding the property with ever-changing coastal light.

Grade I listed stately home in need of renovation after devastating fire

Having suffered a catastrophic fire in 2017 within the main house which significantly damaged this Grade I Listed, 16th Century country house is a pheonix yet to rise from the ashes.

One of the most viewed properties online, it has attracted much attention from the curious but is still waiting for a special new owner(s) that has the vision, patience and gumption to return Parnham House to its former glory.

Parnham House is one of Dorset's oldest stately homes with the existing house origins dating back to 1552.  This 16th Century Elizabethan stone house is Grade I Listed and described as “exceptionally important” by Historic England and is referenced by Pevsner. In 1810, the renowned architect John Nash remodelled and oversaw renovations to the house which included winding staircases and stone mullioned windows.

As a Grade I Listed building of exceptional historic and architectural interest, a buyer will need to liaise with Historic England and West Dorset District Council in relation to any restoration works.

The remaining buildings are virtually untouched, including a detached three bedroom Dower House, two bedroom stable cottage, two flats and stables with outdoor riding arena.

Included in the sale are formal landscaped gardens, a glorious lake, traditional walled gardens, a deer park, tennis court, bowling green, swimming pool, fields, woodland and stream.
