The Macklin is situated in the sought after and unspoilt village of Mansel Lacy. Its location combines a rural village setting with ease of access to the cathedral city of Hereford with its extensive facilities.

The Macklin was for centuries a traditional Herefordshire farmhouse in a peaceful village location which it enjoys to this day. Listed Grade II, the house is in a slightly elevated setting above the road, looking out over orchards with views as far as Dinedor Hill. The house was originally a medieval cruck-frame open hall of two bay. A floor was insertd in the 16th Century to make what is now the kitchen with master bedroom above. The large half-timbered cross wing was added in the early 17th Century and it is this that provides the living accommodation. The most recent addition in the early 1990's is the open fronted garage and workshop. The house is well presented and offers comfortable and attractive accommodation that combine well with the period features. The garden is well laid out and sets off the house to the best advantage. The house is approached via wooden gates and a drive flanked by silver birches.
