Sited on a gentle slope close to the Lonach Hills, Skellater House dominates its long front garden overlooking the River Don. It is an outstanding example of an early Laird's house, the exterior of which has survived remarkably intact despite being used as a hay store during the 1900's. It was built by Lachlan Forbes in 1727 to a three storey T plan design with advanced gable wings forming a U shaped front terrace.
Skellater is now a beautifully presented and laid out family house with the fine detail and history of the 18th century combined with 21st century living.
The approach to Skellater is imposing with a km ruler straight drive rising gently to a circular sweep at the front.
